THE AGGREGATE AND QUARRY ASSOCIATION
OF NEW ZEALAND

The new Health and Safety at Work Act comes into effect on 4 April 2016.This legislation covers all workplaces, including quarries. A key feature of the new Act is the creation of a PCBU - a ‘person conducting a business or undertaking’. While a PCBU may be an individual person or an organisation, in most cases it will be a company. A PCBU must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers and that other people are not put at risk by its work. To view the New Health & Safety Act Click Here

A series of regulations support the new Act including those passed in 2013 for the quarrying and mining sector. To view regulations Click Here

In addition, there are Guidelines to the new Act and Regulations. In November 2015, WorkSafe issued the first ever Good Practice Guidelines for the quarrying and alluvial mining sector. To view guidelines Click Here
